Introducing Pete Barrett.

Pete Barrett grew up in Virginia, and was exposed to folk, country, bluegrass, and hymnal music at an early age. For the past 15 years he’s been backing some of New Orleans’ best songwriters, most recently credited on Silver Synthetic’s 2021 Silver Synthetic LP (Third Man Records), and on Esther Rose’s 2023 Safe to Run (New West Records).

His debut EP, Creekside Studio Sessions Pt. I, is a fresh offering to the Cosmic Americana landscape, bringing to life the experience of what he calls “livin’ on the line.” This collection of songs features Kosta Galanopoulos (Delicate Steve, Luke Temple, Fruitbats), Jacob Peter (Lucius), and Tyler English (Triptides, Caravan 222). By placing an emphasis on live tracking and leaving natural artifacts and imperfections, the group has achieved something that sounds worn and lived in, and feels both new and familiar all at once. "I never showed up with a finished song. That was one of the rules of these sessions. We always kept it loose, just trying to capture whatever was happening in the room that day. And I think the fun we had doing it can be heard all over the record. To me it's kind of a warm, joyful sound." - Pete
